So, I find myself sticking my foot in my mouth a lot. Yesterday after buying a present for an expecting mother and telling her how wonderful it was, I had my first bad experience with it! Audrey took a tumble off the counter and landed head first on our stained concrete floor. She was sitting in her bebe pod arched her back, and used her feet to make herself tumble off the counter. She was placed in the center of the counter but Ava wanted her to sit closer to her and pulled her towards her chair. She pulled her close to the edge where just a good little push would've tumble Audrey off.
I knew this was a possibility because I have caught Ava as she was headed off the counter before but it is a very unlikely situation. I use them daily and its the only way I get things done. God was watching over our little Audrey because she has not shown any sign of concussion or hemorrhaging. On my way home from work (not driving so great as you can imagine) I call the doctor and try to get as much information before I arrive at home so that I can take appropriate actions. I learned what listless meant.... didn't know what it meant before but luckily I repeated the conversation with Matt and he informed me what it meant. Apparently everyone around me knew what it meant, I can honestly say I've never heard the word used until yesterday.
I had been in a meeting and when I got back to my desk I saw 9 missed calls from Matt and knew something was up. I call him and you get that gut wrenching, control you emotions don't cry at work feeling rush over you. He was in downtown Fort Worth and asked me to leave immediately. After seeing her I knew something had happened because her voice was hoarse from crying so much, but she seemed fine. Other than being a little fussy and not wanting to be bounced around so much she seemed fine. We checked her pupils and every other little thing you can do to see if something is going on but again she seemed perfectly fine.
There is not a bump or bruise on her head. God was watching over our family yesterday! We had to keep her awake for four hours (which wasn't easy!) and monitor her for 24 hours. That is all over now and things are back to normal, but things like this just remind you how precious life is and how blessed we are! Not that anyone ever means too, but I think we can take our health and safety for granted at times and incidences like this have to bring you back down to reality. I feel a greater since of gratitude and humility knowing what possibly could've been the outcome.
