Adult VBS

Little did I know that they adult VBS would be so wonderful! We listened to a gentleman that was an atheist and set out to prove, scientifically, that God did not exist. In his studies he realized that there was in fact a God. What a powerful experience because now he has a ministry that shows how science and religion work hand and hand, not against each other. With Matt and I being engineers, you know we had to love the technical scientific talk. Quantum physics, fusion, biology and all were discussed and I was tentatively listening. I can't get enough.

If you know me very well at all you know that for the most part, I HATE reading books. In high school I bought books on tape just so I wouldn't have to read them. In my college classes I read when it was only absolutely necessary. Don't get me wrong I read, but only when I am really interested or need to. I have to say I am reading some of his books and others that he has recommended. This is probably a first in my life, reading books for pleasure. If he had his books on tape, now that would be amazing :)

I do most my reading now at work (procedures and policies are never ending), blogs about my industry (nuclear power), or social sites (facebook and blogs). So this is going to be an interesting change, I'll let you know if I am able to finish the books...

I don't have a problem believing that God exists. However, I know many fellow science minded people have a hard time wrapping their head around the idea of God. After looking at his materials of what is taught in schools and from my own personal experience in high school biology I understand why so many people have a hard time accepting the fact there is a God. We need to be very vigilant as parents to know what our kids are taught and be able to answer the hard questions when asked.

Any chance these are Lee Strobel books? Case for a Creator is a good one that you would like. VERY scientific. I believe he's a pastor or on staff at Saddleback, but used to be an atheist and writer for Chicago Sun Times or Tribune.

No, his name is John Clayton. He is a science teacher (biology, physics, chemistry) at an inner city school in MI. He has attended classes of some of most respected atheist in science today, so he intamintely knows how and why they think what they do. Most importantly, he knows what our children are being taught in schools!!!
